HOMELESS, NOT HELPLESS!!!
christmas eve!
last night i was watching jay leno, and in the "jaywalking" segment, there was a lil preppy girl that said, ho ho ho, green giant!! THATS MY LINE!! i wonder if she reads my drivel?
well, i got my appointments for the VA docs to see me about the lump i have on the back of my neck for the past 3 years!! it usually dont bother me, but lately, sometimes when i wake up, i have a monster headache!! last winter, when i was in santa barbara tramping around, i HAD an appointment to get an MRI done on the neck at the VA in los angeles, but the damn bi-polar kicked in, i got paranoid, and i beat it outta there!!!
well, the "lets feel sorry for the homeless" is in FULL SWING HERE!!
the tv cams were at the shelter around the corner, and the radio stations were trying to raise money for the shelter EXPLOITATION ABOUNDS!!!
nobody around here gives a flying fuck about the homeless here; the mormans who own gateway across the street from the shelter want to TEAR DOWN the shelter and EXPAND GATEWAY!! gateway is an upscale street mall with condos in it; in fact, right across the street from me usta be a salvation army homeless centre, its been torn down, and GATEWAY is building a mini mall with underground parking, and in about 2 years or so, maybe sooner, they gonna TEAR DOWN my building, and expand on this!! the shelter holds 700 homeless people ( men, women, and children) and feeds 1000 meals daily in the soup kitchen; they wanna push us further away from downtown; after all, ya cant have homeless running around downtown of all places!!! oh, no, we cant have that!!! lets tuck em far from downtown as we can!! so we wont see em!! then we cant feel sorry for what we cant see~~
its all a fallacy, just because its christmas time its "lets feel like we are doing something for the homeless so we can assuage our guilty conscience;" after the first of the year, the tv cams will go away, and the radio stations will disappear too, and over 1000 homeless in this area will continue to be homeless, with no real plan in place to actually help people get off the street!!
theres NO DECENT HOUSING!!! RENTS are out of reach; on the news the other day, they sez for a FAMILY OF 4 to just BARELY SCRAPE BY, they have to pull in at least 10 bucks an hour!
ya, RIGHT!!! you CANT get a JOB making 10 bucks an hour around here, unless you are a "PROFESSIONAL" college educated moron!
I on the other hand, am LUCKY!! I have my lil furnished room here, the rent is affordable thanks to utah non profit housing corporation, which is PRIVATELY OWNED and NOT A GUBBERMINT AGENCY!! these nice people here also blessed me with a part - time job!! for which i am TRULY GRATEFUL!!
its clean, and quiet here, and theres a screening process you have to go thru to get in here.
WHEN they tear this building down, doyle the manager sez we will have furnished APARTMENTS to move into; well, i am willing to stick it out here and see what plays out! but, experience has shown me that i figure that within 2 years, i will be back at SQUARE ONE!!! cause everytime i get into a nice situation, SOMETHING comes along to fuck it up!!!
i wasnt planning on ranting about my #1 pet peeve today, it just blurted out!
i am working today from 9-5 and tomorrow from 9-5 and then sunday from 1 am to 9 am that will put me at 64.5 hours at that point!!! shooting for 80!
well, its coffee, donut time, and the news!!
be thankful for what you have, and be grateful you do not have a mental defect or other defect which prevents you from being a fully productive member of society, and you have the skills to survive in this greedy country of ours!
