wednesday question!

Q. i was in staples yesterday to get ink for my printer, and i seen they got a nice what they call an "all in one" printer/copier/scanner for 99 bucks! now, my printer is ok as it is, it works just fine. i dont have a scanner or a copy machine, so i dunno; im torn about this, so i put the question to you~ Should i goto staples and get this all in one printer/scanner/copier? 99 bucks? theres tax involved, also more ink. so, yay or nay! help me decide! just drop a line in the comments or notes or email and say yay or nay!

recurring dream department!

i am in a canoe, on the st. lawerance seaway, and i make a beeline for canada; row row row ya boat! so i get there and customs turns me back; so i row back to the usa; row row row ya boat! i get to the us side, and customs turns me back; so back and forth i go, where i land no one knows! just drifting, and not allowed to land anywhere!

its gonna be a wet summer here in the land of salt and pepper! the reservoir's are full to the overflowing brim, and they have to open dams to let the runoff flow, the snow has not melted yet from the mountains, and we are scheduled for more rain thunderstorms, even! and they claim that we are in a drought here! friggen morons dont know what a drought is!

im in a rather peculiar situation here! its like this; i do not have a set schedule for working, except for sundays 1 am to 9 am. the rest of the time, i work when doyle the manager sez he needs me, which is usually when he needs to leave the office for a few hours, then he calls me at the last minute, and sez ya wanna work? of course, im not going to say no, but on the other hand, if i just up and go out, i MAY lose hours!!! so i sit here, waiting. i cant ask him for a schedule, cause we just dont know when i will work. sometimes, like when i go shopping i say to him, ya need me to work? and he sez no; but sometimes he sez yes. peculiar, sometimes i feel trapped. but ya know, overall, i do like it; its better than wandering the streets, and having to goto a shelter at night! i do got it good here.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the Kent State shootings.

Student protests of the Vietnam War on the campus of Kent State University in Ohio had been ongoing since May 1. On May 2, the Ohio National Guard was sent in to quell the protests, and a state of emergency was declared by the mayor of Kent. Although the students were told to cease and desist and several protests on May 3 had been broken up, another protest was scheduled for noon on May 4. Just before noon, the crowd was ordered to disperse, and tear gas was fired into the crowd of 2,000 students, causing advanced weeping but no serious injuries.

When the crowd refused to disperse, the Guard advanced on it and fired into the protesters, killing four and wounding nine. The Guard claimed that they had only fired because a sniper had fired on them, but subsequent investigations found no evidence of such a claim being accurate. The Kent State shootings encapsulated a nation torn by the conflict abroad and left one of the most enduring images of the war era: a weeping 14-year-old Mary Ann Vecchio standing over slain student Jeff Miller. The shootings were also the inspiration for the Neil Young song, "Ohio."

Nineteen years later, Oliver North was convicted three crimes related to the Iran-Contra Affair (accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry and destruction of documents) and acquitted of nine other charges. The real winner in the Iran-Contra Hearings was the Teflon Don himself, President Ronald Reagan. Admitting nothing, and paving the way for the Clinton depends-on-what-the-definition-of-is-is defense, Reagan swore to Congress that he just didn't recall anything at all that happened between 1986 and 1987. North's convictions were later overturned on the ruling that he'd been granted limited immunity for his testimony to Congress, thereby solidifying the Spaceballs theory as fact: "Evil will always triumph over good, because good is dumb."

Depressed yet? There's good news too! America's favorite failed Cosmonaut *N SYNC's Lance Bass turns 26 today!

FACT OF THE DAY
One of the greatest sporting disasters ever occurs today in 1949 when almost the entire AC Torino football team are killed in an air crash. The team was never to recover from the disaster and along with the similar disaster to befall Manchester United has led to many 'what-if' scenarios regarding the possible achievements of the players.
