Man breaks into apartment then rents it

OSLO, Norway - An enterprising Norwegian found a way to turn a tidy profit on Oslo real estate by renting out a nice apartment in a popular part of town.
What the renters didn't know was that the 29-year-old man, whose name has not been released, had broken in to someone else's apartment and rented it out to 11 different people, national news media reported Tuesday.
Police said the man admitted to breaking into the apartment and posting photographs of it on an Internet real estate site. He then allegedly asked for a bargain 5,000 kroner, or $780, per month in rent.
Since such an apartment normally costs 35 percent more in Oslo, about 60 hopefuls flocked to the con man's showing.
Eleven people were so eager to rent the space they each paid a $2,340 deposit. A total $25,780 was transferred to the swindler's bank account.
Ingrid Christensen, of the Oslo police, told Norway's largest newspaper, Verdens Gang, that the money was found in the suspect's bank account and he would face fraud charges.
The real renter was traveling at the time of the showings and has now changed all the locks!

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - A former parking meter attendant accused of stealing $120,000 - quarter by quarter - has pleaded guilty to embezzlement and has promised to pay most of it back.
Vincent J. Howard agreed in court Tuesday to repay $70,000 within 30 days and $30,000 more over the two years that he will be on probation.
Macomb County Circuit Judge Richard Caretti also ordered the 50-year-old Howard to spend six months on an electronic tether.
Howard, who worked for the Detroit suburb of Mount Clemens for 23 years, was arrested last year after police raided his home and found thousands of dollars in coins. They also found $500 in Howard's car and $2,000 in a city-owned car he used on his rounds.
"He said he took $500 every two weeks for 10 years to pay bills," said county Assistant Prosecutor Steve Steinhardt. "But I think he used the money to more than supplement his income."
Howard now works as a $9-an-hour laborer for a fence company!
Great-grandmother gives birth to twins

SWEET HOME, Ala. - A 57-year-old great-grandmother who gave birth to a set of twins last month said Thursday she danced with her husband only hours after the delivery.
"I was feeling absolutely great, almost like I hadn't delivered," Rosee Swain said on ABC's "Good Morning America." "It was just a good birth and I felt great and I was hungry. It went great."
Christian Kaczur Hart and Diana Rose Angelina, conceived through in vitro fertilization, were born April 20 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham four weeks premature. Swain and her husband, Jay, brought the babies home to Fort Payne on Friday.
The couple, whose youngest child, Jimmy, is 6, said they did not want Jimmy to grow up as an only child.
"There are lots of options out there for older women like me," Rosee Swain said. "And women shouldn't give up hope without exploring all their options."
In addition to the twins and Jimmy, the Swains have two grown children; two other children are deceased. They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jay Swain told The Daily Drivel on Thursday that having the twins at home has been "very, very enjoyable, exciting. It's like a renewal to do it all over again."
Rosee Swain, a special education teacher, said she's ready to care for the twins, who will likely graduate from high school when she is 75.
"Being a mother again at 57 isn't for everyone, but we felt it was right for us," she said.
But there will be no more new babies after this.
"Our kids have family names, and we're out of family names, so this will be it," she said on ABC.(DEFG)
Her husband added that more children could also become a financial burden.
"I would love to but I always worry about my wife's health and financially, it can get rather pricey. We are not necessarily wealthy," said Jay Swain, who works in the plumbing department at a Home Depot store. He wouldn't specify his age but said he's about his wife's age.
In 1998, an Indiana woman gave birth to twin girls, also at age 57. And last November, a woman in New York City gave birth to twins just days before her 57th birthday!
21 hours at work! here, in the office! at 11:30 yesterday, I was on the phone, yelling at paypal for denying my double charge claim i made, but thats anutter story, when doyle the manager came to the door, i thought he was gonna say something to me for yelling, but he asked me if i can work at noon. the poor guy was tired, so, i sez yea, i can work at noon! thinking that sam the samoan would come in at 5, i had no problem. so away i went at noon to come and work, when at 3:30 pm, sam the samoan called and asked me if i can work til 1 am, he sez that he will be here at 1. so, yea, i sez, i can work til 1, no problem! THEN, about 9:30 sam the samoan called again, saying that his toof was killing him, can i work ALL NIGHT? so, for this, i had to ask doyle the sleeping manager. after several bangings on doyle the sleeping manager's door, i asked him if its ok for me to work all night, and he sez yes, its ok with him, if its ok by me! so here we are, working until 9 am folks! that will make it 21 hours for me. my projected hours for the pay period, which ends tuesday the 31st, is 70 hours! thats a 500 bux paycheck!!! wheeeeeeee!!!!
so, ya know, we have a be quiet rule after 10 pm, until 8 am so folks can get their sleep. that means, no hell raising, no loud tee vees or stereos, just keep the noise down! at 10 pm rounds, i went upstairs, and one of our good tenants had his tee vee blaring! you can hear it down the hall. so i went to his room, and knocked loudly, and asked him real nice like to turn the tee vee down, its after 10 pm, please! and so he did.
then at 11 pm, i went back upstairs, to check on things, and the good tenant had his tee vee blaring again! well, this time i am pissed! theres no need for this! WTF??? this guy never causes any problems!!! instant replay of 10 pm, and this time i warned him not so nice like that if he did not turn the tee vee down, that i will call the cops, and he will goto jail for disturbing the peace! i mean to tell you folks, he had this tee vee up so loud, that the door to his room was vibrating from the sound waves, for crispy cremes sakes!
so at midnite, i went upstairs, and all was quiet, as it should be!!! yay!!! i didnt want to call the cops on this guy, and i dont know what got into him. i had to write up an incident report, and maybe doyle the manager will talk to him about it tomorrow!
so as you can see here, this page of the daily drivel has been altered slightly. i recieved a request from suburban island that she asked if i can change the template cause she is having a hard time reading it. so, in keeping with policy here at who did it and ran, ink! when somebuddy who is a regular reader of the drivel asks if i can change something, i put my crack team of techno-engineers, led by that famous engineer, choo-choo charlie, and got to work on switching a few things around!
