Hello! Welcome to Macy's! my name is Art, how may I provide you with outstanding customer service today? Did you know that we offer a 15% discount on all new star rewards card purchases today?

heh! thats all well and good if i was a sales associate, but i am a recovery and receiving associate!! 8 PM til the cows come home!! yeeeee!!!

the training today was all about SALES! and of course, where EVERYTHING is!! this store i will be working at, is the FLAGSHIP store for Macys west!!! 8 floors of merchandise, and 2 floors of other things! HUGE! we went to every floor, and shown where all the stuff is, and most importantly, the employee lounge, which you can go into ANYTIME, and they have a big screen tee vee and 2 innernet terminals for free use!!

my head is spinning, i was told a lot of things that pertain to sales, and we did some customer associate role play, and had to demonstrate an item. my table had a hand massager, and i was picked as the spokesman for the table, and had to describe the selling points of the hand held massager! "it has a LONG cord!!! it has a good grip, and easy to use!!"

each floor has a floor manager and an asst. floor manager, and some floors have 2 floor managers!! the mamagers all wear RED name tags, so next time you are in macys, and see someone with a RED nane tag, you now know that is a manager!!

we went down to the loss prevention dept. where they have a setup on the cams just like inna casino!! they can zoom right down to the cashiers keyboard, and see what they are typing!! they told us how many cams they have, and its incredible!

did you know that FAO SCHWARTZ is owned by macys? in my store, thats where santa is gonna be set up in! part of my store is also an FAO SCHWARTZ! also, those macy commercials you see on tee vee? they are filmed on the 9th floor!! we went up there, to see, but they wernt filming any commercials!!!

this holiday season, all employees will be getting a 30% discount off purchases!! also, they WILL HIRE folks for after the holidays, all ya gotta do is tell your manager, and let him/her know that you are interested, and when the season is over, they will evaluate your performance, and if it lives up to standards, you are IN!! woo hoo!!!

i will know exactly what my hours will be on friday, once i get the cash register training; thats where all associates (i am an associate) clock in and out in your dept. and get more hours! now heres the OH SHIT!!!

with me, theres ALWAYS an OH SHIT!!!

there is an excellent chance that i will be working ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! the 8 pm to midnight is NOT etched in stone!!! that will present a major problem that qualifies as an OH SHIT! like where am i gonna sleep?? theres NO day shelters that I know of!! if i go 8 pm to midnight, i can just let the mission know that i need a late pass for 12:30 and im good, but im not gonna get one for an all nighter!!! YIKES!!!

its gonna be back to the case manager to have him figure out whats what, and im gonna have to push him big time on this! if i have to work all the night long, im NOT TURNING that down!! not at 72 bux a day pay!! or more!!! overtime is approved by your manager!!

although i am dressed appropriately for sales, and fit the strict dress code, i am allowed in recovery to wear jeans and be casual!! whew!! good stuff!!!

my store!!

and with the right attitude and knowledge, in just 16 years I can be running the joint!! just like my current store mgr is with only 16 yrs on the job!! its a great company to work for, and they have an open door policy and are willing to help you!!

BUT, i will be damned if i tell em im at the mission!!! oh hell no!!!

as my pal, boxx9000 always sez, "it will work out in the end, it always does!!!"
