well, marines, its the first of the month!
here now, brought to you by brillo, that soothing face moisturizer, is what happens in my world on the 1st of the month.....
the line at the soup kitchen is low, because all the idiots who get SSI checks for being drunk and stupid, eat at fine resturants ie: mc donalds, burger king, dennys. for those in our audience tonight who live in the midwest, dennys is like steak and shake or bob evans.
you are GUARNTEED a bed at the mission, for the same reason listed above, they are booking rooms at all the elite accomadations in the area ie: macs motel, happy days motel, dew drop inn.
i get my check on friday. there is a difference between SSI, paid on the 1st, and SSDI, paid on the 3rd. SSI, stands for supplimental security insurance, is federal welfare, paid in part by the federal govt. and the individual states. new york and california pay the most. if you live in say, montana, you are screwed! it goes by population. on the other hand SSDI, stands for social security disability insurance. the key word here is DISABILITY. with SSI, being just homeless qualifies, you do not necessarily have to be disabled, but it helps. the cash comes from 3/4 the feds, and 1/4 the state. whereas, with SSDI you must have at least 40 quarters of work history, paid into the system, (thats what FICA is, you see FICA in ya paystubs) and be DISABALED, not able to work.
so, with all this hard earned free money rolling in, why is there homeless? well, i will tell you. the majority of mongrels out there WANT to be homeless, its a profession, they like it. the rest of us cannot afford a decent apartment because: A. not enough income, and B. GREED!
yes, GREED! property owners are greedy!
it cultivated back in the 80's. one of the ways it cultivated in the big cities was the cities and states had taken over property, mostly abandoned, by emnient domain, sold said properites to the public for as little as one dollar, with the proviso that you have 5 years to rehab the property into livable dwellings. well, after fixing up these properties, the owners decided they can charge outrageous rents, and get rich quick! there is absoultely no need to charge 500, 1000, 1500, as high as 5000 a month, as in the case of the coastal cities, seattle, portland, san fran, l.a. boston, new york, d.c., miami...check this out! if you take a typical dwelling, and goto city hall and look at what the owners pay in property taxes, you will see what i mean. say for example, you own a 6 family dwelling in san francisco, now your property tax is say, 3000 a month, then you have minimal maintence costs; so why in gods name would you charge 5000 a month for rent? ya pulling in 30 grand a month, payin 3 grand in tax, and have minimal maintenence costs? your tenants pay for their own utilities, so why? cause you wanna make as much money as you can! all for one and f*** every one else. that is the attitude in the big city. and another reason. credit checks. and application fees and deposits. what a scam this is.
say you own a 10 unit apt house. you charge 30 bucks non refundable, for credit check; 10 bucks for application fee; well heres 40 bucks for 5 minutes work. you go online, look at the credit history, and if you decide that the person applying is not your kind of person, you can just tell them, sorry, but the credit check came back not good. do this to 20 or 30 people a day, do the math! what business is it of yours to run my credit to rent me an apartment? im not buying a car. i need a place to live!!! the premise is that they wanna see if you pay the rent! thats B.S. its just anutter money making greedy and sadly legal scam by property owners. and the deposit! its supposed to be refundable when ya move out, but thats not the case. heres the reality: you rent an apartment for 1500 a month, the deposit is for 1500. live there a year or so. whaen ya move out, ya wont get the deposit back cause the property owner says, sorry, but there was damage when ya moved out, and i had to rehab the apt. for new renters. this deposit lays in an escrow account at the bank, drawing interest, until you move out, then when the property owner decides to keep ya deposit, he can pull it out of the escrow, and line his pockets with it! all nice and tidy and legal! so there! thats the biggest cause of homeless in america today, GREED!
thats my rant for today, boys and girls, just my opinion, and ya know what they say about opinions....
just my opinion, but, i may be wrong. in that case, i work myself up over nothing!
