thursday wonderings and self descriptors
why do we still need "print media" ie: newspapers?

in this day and age, with the internet and literally tens of thousands of newspapers now have online publications of their dailies, why do we need the actual print media?
well, you say, not everyone has access to the internet; well, i say, long before i owned my computer, i always went to the library to get online access...
not all libraries have internet access, you say; well, i say that today, at least here in the united states, the bill and melinda gates foundation has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to ensure that ALL libraries have internet access, free to the public.

so the question remains, why do we still have print media? i think its a monetary issue; if the newspapers stop printing hard copies, they will lose revenue; the almighty dollar at work.

i was thinking about this just a lil while ago, standing outside, and remembering not too long ago, i used to goto a diner and order up a mess of breakfast, and read the paper while shoveling eggs and coffee down my throat; then after chewing, relaxing with a good cuppa coffee, a cigarette, and the paper, reading about world events, becoming informed and educated in local and national politics, and other goings on.

nowadays, breakfast at the diner sucks, cost about 10 bucks, the coffee is weak, and no smoking, and if they busy, the waitress tryes to run you out straightaway after chewing by presenting you with the bill; she wants you out now, so she can clean the table and reset it for the next customer, because the longer you sit there, she is losing money. the almighty dollar at work. i miss those days, not too long ago, either!

i have been leading a rather dull existence these past few months. most days, im up at about 4 am or so, 1st thing i do, i goto diaryland here to read whoever posted on my buddy list while i was sleeping. the tv comes on to either CNN or IMUS IN THE MORNING on MSNBC. then, i read posts, then goto the newspapers online that i read, drink coffee, smoke one after another for an hour or so; update the drivel here, try to find something interesting to say, and i tell ya, its hard to do that. after updating, reading it over, then sending it out so y'all can read it; then i start breakfast cooking, eggs, taters, meat, toast, more coffee. by this time i generally get my 1st comment on what i posted. read more papers online, say hiya to some yahoo buddies, then about this time its 7 am. i turn it most mornings to the today show on nbc. then flop back into bed and let the today show lull me back to sleep. sleep til about 10 or 11 or so, then back at the puter to check dland comments, read dland updates, chat with yahoo pals, then play a lil pogo. some days i clean the mess in the room, vaccumm, wash dishes daily, sometimes laundry is in order. some days, if doyle the manager has to go out, i get a coupla hours in the office here. sometimes i eat lunch, tuna or spam with cheese sandwichs. check email for dland comments, read updated dland entries, play pogo, chat on yahoo, law and order on the tv on TNT, sometimes take a lil nap around 1 til 3; at 3 check snail mail, play pogo, read news online, then 4 pm switch tv to local news from 4 til 6 pm. then from 6 til 10, most days watch tv shows; at 7 pm i go down the street to lock a parking lot up that nets me 50 bucks cash a week, monday til friday. at 10 is news, at the same time while doing all this, im on the puter doing all what i been doin all day; email, chat dland, pogo, news blogs, etc. 10:35 i watch jay leno til 11 pm then sleep til 3 or 4 am. and here we go again!
that is my life, basically. every day. some days its different. i go shopping, library, walmart, bus riding. but thats that! and you think you got it bad!! hahahaa!!

actually, its all not that bad. i certainly not complaining here. i just want to show you guys what i do during the course of any given day in my life today. i dont goto bars, or hang out down at the street corner. overall, im content. i have a very hard time interacting with people offline, and tend to get frustrated very easily, and limit my offline contact with humans to the people here in the hotel, and occasionally at the supermarket. very limited social skills. my bi-polar disorder interferes with offline human contact. o well.

i got everything i need here except being able to have a indoor cat. theres a stray cat that comes by out back that is finally friendly towards me, and i take great pleasure in watching him eat!
now after i get off this shift at 9 am, i go upstairs and straight to bed, and try to sleep til at least 2 or 3 pm. then i HAVE to goto the library to return overdue cd's.
so, thats that! its thursday, and the week is almost over. my next regularly scheduled work event will be sunday morning from 1 am to 9 am!! and payday, for the job is friday!! yaya!!
hope everyone is doin ok, and happy, and i will cya later!
