heres some stuff that happened!
monday was the anniversary of D-Day. In case all the "Price is Right" episodes you've been watching since summer vacation started have eclipsed all your history lessons, I'm talking about World War II. You know, when the French were our friends, and we bailed their asses out of wars and stuff. Anyway on this day in 1944, the "walking six miles to school in shoes made of rusty nails" generation decided to stop fucking around and start winning the damn war. Allied forces stormed the banks of Normandy and cracked the Nazi hold on Western Europe. In addition, the invasion created several memorable movie roles, most of which involved John Wayne fighting Indians.
New Jersey has its gubernatorial primary yesterday. Normally this wouldn't be worth mentioning to those outside the land of Bon Jovi and the boss, but come on, NJ politics were so much fun last year. Remember when Gov. James McGreevey up and outed himself on national TV, and then relinquished the throne of the Garden State to that Cody guy? And you totally thought that he was just going to confess to doing something naughty with his campaign funds.
On this day in the year 632, the prophet Mohammed, the founder of Islam, died. I hear Newsweek has some "close sources" who think that the US guards at Guantanamo Bay may have had a thing or two to do with it.
The 12th Annual Rock The Vote Awards take place today in Washington D.C. The organization was founded in 1990 to get lazy 18-29 year-olds all jazzed to slip their ballets in the box. According the Rock people, 2004 was the highest youth turnout in decades. Depending on your politics, this might make you wish that they'd just kept their *&?!!!*9 stinking pie-holes closed, but I digress.
Among those getting gold stars at this year's awards are the two senators that everyone can agree on: John McCain and Barack Obama. Also honored is President Bill Clinton: I'll let you insert your own joke about his hands on-involvement with America's youth. Also, The Black-Eyed Peas are being honored: Who knew that there was a political rallying cry to "Shut-Up?" heheheee!!
BTW, if the comic strip here is so small you need the hubble telescope to read it, just put ya mouse pointer over it and click on it, it will appear inna new window, and you can toss that hubble telescope back into space!!
as for my poll i had, only got 18 votes! and most folks wanna read true life stories...well, if i can remember some, i will put em on in here, like i done yesterday.
im really wide eyed open to suggestions here! am i boring? do you like the stuff you see here? i know i dont have a family like y'all have, and no lil rugrats to say witty things that i can write about here, and summer is here (coulda fooled me last night, it was freezo here) and all y'all got actual lives and dont spend 18 hours a day on the puter like i do sometimes, but, im trying real hard here to write stuff, and most days i get little or no feedback; ie: comments. most days here in my life, nothing exciting happens! i do the same shit most days, eat, watch tv, play pogo, read newsfeeds, sleep, chat with 1 or 2 people on yahoo messenger; yada, yada, yada...update this everyday, soak my feet inna "foot spa", clean the cave here, etc.
its just that it seems like only 3 or 4 people read this drivel! i cant tell by the "stats" here, this may sound stupid, but if i write something really neat, and get no comments, i get a lil upset! then, i start to think, oh, why bother? then i read somebodys stuff, and i laugh my ass off, then i wonder if what i wrote made some one laugh, or smile even! i dunno. im whining again. i will shut up now.

George Orwell's 1984 is published today in 1949. A vision of a lone individual attempting to rebel against a repressive, violent state, the book has become a classic of its kind. Despite its grim aura, 1984 was mostly written in the beautiful surroundings of the Scottish island of Jura, leading it to be included (somewhat bizarrely) among the best Scottish books of all time.
