full impulse power, mr. sulu
hello. happy friday! impulse power has struck again!! oh my! the things i do some times.....
the true story
welp, on the way home yesterday evening, i decided to go the long way around, planning on getting a subway sammich or something. so, i get off the bus, and go across the street to grab the other bus, when as im waiting for the light to change, i see my other bus go merrily by! its a 1/2 hr. til the next one; so i cross the street, and see a chinese resturant. so i think, hey, i aint had any chink food in a while, so why not?
so, i cross the street again, and i spy (1966 robert culp, bill cosby) a pawn shop. ok, this looks decent, and im thinking, well i aint been inna pawn shop inna dogs age, i'll go in there 1st! just to see what they have.
all of a sudden, as soon as i walk in there, i spy (see previous paragraph) monitors! im thinking, gosh, they got a lotta monitors here! then i raise my head up, and someone shot me with the ole impulse gun! i seen this purty black puter sittin there, amongst the monitors and other stuff, and i look at the sticker price: 240 bux! well, i aint got 240 bux, but im lookin, lookin, looking!
and the guy comes over and sez the magic words:
can i help you?
im at full impulse power now, getting ready to go into warp drive! i say, "240 is awful steep for this puter" and he sez, well its got a pentium 4 in it. let the haggling begin!!
so we haggle, and i say, well, can we hook it up and let me check it out? and we are haggling, haggling, this guy is puter stoopid. i check this out, everything seems ok, but just 256 megs of ram in it. and im thinking, well, i can cannablise this. this is a compaq evo. i got a presario at home. this cd drive, its not a cdr. he shrugs. we haggle more. just a 20 gig HD?
so finally, in the full clutches of impulse, i say, i'll give ya 100 bux for it. now. he sez, i can do 120 no tax. so, i say, ok sold. i can do 120.
sale slip sez 113 plus 7 bux or so, tax!
so now, next thing i know, i just bought this compaq evo. no monitor, but he threw in the keyboard. hehehe.
i hit the street. all sales final. the impulse is gone, and the doubts fly. i got 40 bux left!! what did i just do? why did i buy this? im gonna need smokes next week!! 100 things start rushing into my head. zipper needs fixing. hell i called around for that, and all the vets gimme a price in the 100-200 bux range. sigh. i did it again. let the impulse take over, and now i got this puter.
the memory is different. but i was able to cannablise just about everything else. so here we are! pawn shop new puter! its working alright.
the justification!
well, my birthday is coming up, (oct 2) the presario is 2 years old, and im workin regular. and this is nice. yes, its nice. and works! good thing its not rent week!! whew! besides, like my pal boxx9000 always sez, "it will work out, it always works out in the end". i got plenty of food and smokes. and the bills is paid. i dont make enuff to save anything, so spend it, spend it!!! im allowed! hehehe.
any buddy need two 256 megs of ram, DDR, DIMM 180 pin?
