08:55 - Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 from the seattle times: FELONY ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR "MOTHER NATURE" By Jack Broom Seattle Times staff reporter Puget Sound residents coping with slick streets and freezing temperatures now need to brace for another blast from Mother Nature: a fierce windstorm barreling toward Western Washington that could produce gusts in the Cascade foothills up to 90 mph. "This next system could actually be worse than what we just had," said Jeff Michalski, meteorologist for the National Weather Service. A Felony Arrest Warrant was issued late thursday evening in King County Superior Court for Mother Nature, age and residence undetermined, for violation of County Ordinance 805.25(A) A Spokeswoman for Mother Nature stated early friday that she will surrender to Sheriff Sue Rahr by 5 PM today. No other statement was issued by the spokeswoman, and it was rumored that another attempt to upset the ecological balance of global warming was planned for the area as early as next week, 3 days before Christmas, thereby crippling the City and county as a whole. Businesses suffered and shut down way early, and people were in a general panic as a result of Mother Nature's actions. enny buddy got enny ice skates? actually folks, with just a thin veil of ice on the streets, it is a bit of slow going, but as you may or may not know, this brand of snow and ice is the worst seattle has seen in many years! storms of this type are generally reserved for east of the cascades, and up north of the city! from what i read this storm has affected a great portion of the west coast. with more to follow!! as for me, i am layered in 2 hoodies, a heavy jacket, hat and gloves with hand warmers, and yesterday, none of my crew showed up for work, so i had to stock the mens wear by myself, which is all right, but then, the decision was made by the higher ups that the store would close at 5 PM, and i was talking with some salesmen and they said that they were scheduled to work yesterday until 11 pm, and were going to file a grievance with the union for payment of lost hours! speaking of the union, i filled out my papaerwork to join the union yesterday, as i have gotten to know the shop steward, and she tole me since i was a teamster in the mid-80's that perhaps they will forego the initiation fee!! also, by joining the union, this may be a major step for me to get hired on regular after the holiday season. my friend eddie who stays at the other mission and works at macy's did a very fools move the other day, and ate a candy bar in front of the security cameras! as a result, he got suspended yesterday, and must reprot to HR real soon if he wants to keep his job!! WTF was he thinking??? sheesh! in mission news: it was jam packed at the mission the past few days what with the cold weather about, and the mission is turning no one away putting folks on mats in the chapel in an overflow situation. they have a limit (fire code) of 80 folks that they can legally let in, BUT since this cold snap has taken effect, the fire dept. has eased up on the regulations to allow the mission to let in as many as 100. the cold weather shelters in the area are open and in full swing, so there is NO EXCUSE to get up and out of the cold. lotsa folks are getting mittens, gloves, heavy coats and full winter gear the past few days, including yours truly, as i will not get sick again, and stay really toasty warm!!! welp. hava safe and warm weekend, and bring your cats and dogs INSIDE from the cold!! they will love ya for it!!
