good stuff cheap!
one of the benefits of being homeless, if there is such a thing, is that every now and then, someone throws you a solid. (does a good deed for you!)

yesterday afternoon, i did my daily call in to the ranch* to see which way the wind is blowing, previously, i had been #32 on the list, but yesterday, they told me that i HAVE to come in and that im GAURANTEED a church spot!

so, with that in the works, i arrived at the laz to get my seat spot for the first bus, and at 6:30, i got my ticket, and away we went to the ranch.

when we got there, i checked in and they asked me what church i wanted to goto, and so i said Grace Lutheran Church! and in the meanwhile, i got a shower, did a costume change, and had a nice dinner of meat loaf sandwiches and chicken soup and coca cola and cookies; watched a lil tee vee, death wish 2 was on AMC; then at 9 pm, the church van came and there were only 6 of us, and when i found out that it was in Des Moines! i started to panic! how would i get back into town? aw no worries, they give ya a bus ticket to get back into town! (Metro, the bus system here, uses bus tickets of varying denomonations, from 25 cents to $3.00!)

and so, we got there around 9:30, and had snacks, cookies and crackers and cheese and salami and milk and de-caf coffee, then after that we got a nice THICK mat and CLEAN blankets!! NO bedbugs! NO shoving jesus down the gullet! just good night, wake up is at 5:30, then breakfast at 6 and the bus stop is right across the srteet to get ya back into town! and i slept like a champ!

this morning, they served up blistering hot coffee, all you can drink, with as many fried eggs, sausage, and taters and toast and orange juice that you can muster!! it was a feast, featuring peanut butter and jam for the toast!!

and so, we caught the bus back into town, and now the day begins! HOPEFULLY, i'll get my tax refund today, and tonight, i'll be going back to the church, and in a few days, maybe by friday, cause friday the nut checks get issued, i'll be able to get into the ranch, where i can store my bag o'rags!

we will see which way the wind is blowing!

other than that, its friggen raining again, i got a new to me waterproof jacket, but i have to tote my bag around every which way; thats the perils of being homeless.

im a lil upset at someone right now, but i will NOT use this tome as a bully pulpit. i'll get over it. the situation im in currently was caused by certain events, and im dealing with it. one day at a time. and now, heres a blast from the past!!

*The Ranch is the St Martin De Porres Shelter, right next to the USCG base, a former federal wharehouse, holds about 200 men, aged 50 and over, and you can stay there forever, and its constantly FULL!
