04:40 - 24 January 2005 By Barton Gellman The Pentagon, expanding into the CIA's historic bailiwick, has created a new espionage arm and is reinterpreting U.S. law to give Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld broad authority over clandestine operations abroad, according to interviews with participants and documents obtained by The Washington Post. The previously undisclosed organization, called the Strategic Support Branch, arose from Rumsfeld's written order to end his "near total dependence on CIA" for what is known as human intelligence. Designed to operate without detection and under the defense secretary's direct control, the Strategic Support Branch deploys small teams of case officers, linguists, interrogators and technical specialists alongside newly empowered special operations forces. want to read more? be informed as to what your country and its leaders are doing! read the washington post like i do, and you will be! i bet ya didnt know about this! ok, i'm a bit sad about ABC ending NYPD BLUE. why is it when theres a great show on tv, they have to drop it? i know things cant go on forever, but, cmon, this sucks!!! they are replacing NYPD BLUE with a new cop show called BLIND JUSTICE. its about a nypd detective that gets shot and goes blind; then tryes to convince his superiors and co-workers he can STILL be a detective and do his job! CMON, GET REAL!! this show aint gonna last!!! in real life if this happened, the cop would go home and collect disability or something. ABC is really FUCKING UP HERE!! i mean, i can live with JAG and its storyline about bud getting his leg blown off, then still being able to be on active duty, that is reality, and is possible; but a blind detective? cmon, get real!! sheesh!! im gonna give this show a sporting chance, but i know in my heart, it aint gonna last! i was shocked, and dismayed when yesterday, i read my pal, cosmicrayola's post about johnny carson had died!! and the news sources i utilise hadnt even reported on it yet! good job, cosmic! sheesh, i didnt even know ole johnny had emphasema (i know its spelled wrong) let alone being sick! what a shocker. {IT WAS SO HOT TODAY, THAT BURGER KING SAID, IF YA WANT IT YOUR WAY, COOK IT YOURSELF!!! johnny carson} we all gonna miss him. last nights hershey bar pic was a gag!! i eat regular meals!! i really do!! in fact, i eat so damn good, i've GAINED WEIGHT!!! so cmon people. no more emails or comments about how not good eating just a candy bar is! sheesh! the reason i posted the pic was to poke fun at my pal, wenchie who sez the other day that she had no chocolate!! so, i acted like a two year old and sez "its mine!!!" like in, "you cant have any, nyah, nyah" the pic was a friggen gag!! and besides, i got a new web cam from good ole wal mart for 14.95 its a small digital can run on batteries that you can clip on ya shirt pocket and carry with ya, and take pics! why spend hundreds of bucks and get a fancy-schmancy camera, when you can spend 14.95 and get a cute camera that is a web cam too!!! ok, todays "the scotsman" newspaper just emailed me that todays edition is up, so i'm gonna take a few minutes to read over it and see what i can see, and maybe post something interesting from the scottish perspective! also, i'm starting something new today, i'm writing this on my office programme, and so now when i post, it wont go to diaryland heaven; hint, hint, yarnsmith!!! heheheee. three cheers for yarnsmith, whom is doing quite well at her new job!!she admits its a toughie, but i fully admire her courage to make that step up and do something to improve her lot in life, she is truly an inspiration to me, and if ya dont read her diary, YOU SHOULD!!! look to the right here at my list of jurors here and find "yarnsmith" and click on it, and read her! hint, hint!!! be right back!! here are some good stories from the scotsman Part-time MPs should replace MSPs - Forsyth THE Scottish Tories suffered an embarrassing setback yesterday in their efforts to portray themselves as supporters of devolution when it emerged that one of the party's most senior figures, Lord Forsyth of Drumlean, said so, if ya interested in any of these stories, read the scotsman!!! well, have a swell day, being its monday and all!!! |
